• From 2015-2018, MESS partnered with SCCPSS to sponsor our first cohort of 14 teachers to achieve their full Elementary 1 and Elementary 2 Montessori certification from the Seacoast Center for Education in Charleston, SC.

  • From 2017-2020, MESS secured support from SCCPSS to fund Montessori training for 2 PreK/Kindergarten at Seacoast Center and 4 Erkinder teachers at Houston Montessori Center. Teachers travelled to Charleston and Houston numerous times over three years to complete this training. MESS provided stipends to help offset teachers’ travel expenses. Teachers completed their certification by the spring of 2020.

  • MESS sponsored a week-long Montessori Foundations course for all staff and para professionals in June 2017. Staff volunteered more than 40 hours of their summer to attend this training in order to deepen their knowledge of the Montessori method.

  • In September 2018, MESS partnered with Montessori Partnerships for Georgia and SCCPSS to host the first-ever Georgia Public Colloquium in Savannah. Stakeholders from across the state gathered for 2 days of collaboration on methods to best deliver high-quality Montessori education in Georgia. The same weekend, MESS hosted a team from the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS) to conduct a Montessori Coaches Training and Child Study Workshop.

  • Throughout 2016-2020, MESS produced a series of workshops featuring nationally-recognized Montessori experts for our parent and teacher audiences, as well as several events for the broader Savannah community. These include:

    Child in Nature Symposium at Oatland Island in 2016 and 2017, each with 2 days of programming for educators, parents, and children.

    Implementing Grace & Courtesy and Preparing Children for Family, Community, and Organizational Life with Jonathon Wolff in the fall of 2017 and 2018.

    Gifts for our Children presented by Dr. Darlene Maxwell in August 2018.

    Understanding the Adolescent Mind by Dr. Betsy Coe in November 2018.

    Community-wide screening of the documentary Inside Montessori with a panel discussion of experts afterward in the fall of 2019.

  • Co-hosted the Literacy Conference with Montessori Partnerships for Georgia in spring of 2023.

  • Raised $125,000 in partnership with SCCPSS since our inception 10+ years ago.
